How this site makes money

1 of 6 planned commercial relationships are live. The rest are listed anyway so this page describes the whole intent rather than only the parts already earning.

This page is generated from the same list the links themselves come from, so it cannot drift out of date the first time somebody adds one and forgets.

What we take money for

Commercial truck insurance quotes

Not yet live

How we are paid

A fee for each completed quote request, paid by a licensed agency. Not a commission on the policy, and not a share of your premium.

Why it is here at all

Every operating authority is required to carry it, it is the second largest fixed cost after the truck payment, and quoting it costs you nothing. There is no conflict with anything this site says.

Invoice factoring

Not yet live

How we are paid

A referral fee if you sign with a factor we introduce.

Why it is here at all

Widely used and widely misunderstood, so the page computes the real annualised cost first and offers the introduction second. If the calculator talks you out of it, that is the calculator working.

Fuel cards and discount networks

Not yet live

How we are paid

A referral fee per activated card.

Why it is here at all

Fuel is roughly half of a variable mile, and the spread between the cheapest and dearest region is over a dollar a gallon. A card that moves the price you pay is worth more than most equipment.

Electronic logging devices

Not yet live

How we are paid

A referral fee per subscription.

Why it is here at all

Mandated equipment with a running subscription, so it belongs in the fixed cost line of the calculator whether or not anybody is paid for the link.

Parts, tyres and tools

Not yet live

How we are paid

An affiliate commission on qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you.

Why it is here at all

Ordinary retail affiliate income on things the maintenance pages already discuss. It never changes what a page recommends.

Selling your trucking company

Live

How we are paid

This one is ours. Enquiries go to an affiliated M&A advisory firm, which is paid by the seller on a completed transaction in the ordinary way.

Why it is here at all

The largest single financial decision most carrier owners make, and the one with the least public information behind it. The valuation tool is free and stands on its own whether or not you ever speak to anybody.

What we refuse

This is the more useful half of the page. It is the part you cannot verify any other way, and it is the part that would quietly change first if this site ever stopped being worth reading.

Carrier driver recruiting

The carriers with the biggest recruiting budgets run the lease-purchase programmes this site takes apart. Being paid to send drivers into them would make the teardown worthless, and the teardown is the point.

Paid placement in any ranking

A partner can be linked from a page. A partner cannot change what a page says. If a truck, an engine or a lease is described badly here, no amount of money moves it.

Lease-purchase programme advertising

For the same reason as the first, only more directly.

Selling reader data

The calculators run entirely in your browser and send nothing. There is no data to sell and there is not going to be.

A partner may be linked from a page. A partner may not change what a page says. If a truck, an engine or a lease programme is described badly here, no amount of money moves it, and there is no arrangement anywhere on this site under which a payment affects a ranking or a verdict.

Anything with a commercial interest is marked at the point of the link, not only here. Outbound paid links carry a sponsored attribute.

If you think something on this site reads like it was bought, say so through the contact page. That is a correction like any other and it gets treated as one.
